COW Deployments

COW deployments (Cell on Wheels) and Colt (Cell Sites on light Trucks) Deployment
Cells on wheels (COW), or site on wheels, are telecom infrastructures, placed on trailers approved for road use, towed by heavy goods vehicles for loads of up to 3500 kg. These mobile radio base stations guarantee full operation in just one day and in restricted spaces. COWs provide fully functional service, via vehicles such as trailers, vans and trucks, to areas affected by natural disaster or areas with large user volume, such as major events.

A rapid deployment flanged pole is a mobile radio base station infrastructure transportable on truck, allowing fast and easy installation in restricted spaces. The antenna supporting pole, with climbing ladder up to the summit, is fixed to the main base frame and is composed of cylindrical flanged sections integrated by two or three sets of guys with a standard height of up to 30 meters. The flanged pole mobile station, installable in eight hours, does not require civil works or foundations, and is complete, including lateral ballast concrete weights and a working platform in checkered plate.

20 Years in Business Wireless, Steel, Electric, General Contracting
20 Year Anniversary for QTC!

Happy New Year QTC Family! 2021 is the 20 Year Anniversary for QTC!!!

I hope everyone had a chance this weekend to kick it off right with some quality time with family and friends. It is has been a busy end of the year for everyone on our Team.

I always feel a little conflicted about New Year’s goals and New Year’s resolutions…

In a lot of ways I don’t like the idea of relying on or waiting for January 1st to get motivated to set new goals. At the same time, I can’t help but get excited about the idea of a time to reflect on the prior year and think about where we can push ourselves in the upcoming year.  With that said, I do believe we are the group that pushes ourselves year-round to be our best, and the start of a new year just gives us the extra drive to realign with our shared vision, goals, and expectations for the future.

I was really hoping to get together with everyone at the end of the year to talk about some of this. Unfortunately, with the recent uptick in Covid cases, we decided it would probably be safest to hold off from having a large gathering.

Reflecting on 2020

I would imagine that with all the craziness that has gone on, many might say 2020 was not their favorite year.  I feel really badly for all the people and companies that have been negatively affected by Covid — and for how Covid has devastated the world.

I also feel very fortunate that as a company, we have been able to navigate the adversity through the year. Being the type of people we are and the industry we are in, we are used to change and adapting in order to be successful.

Throughout 2020, we were able to achieve some impressive progress that I think we should all be very proud of:

  • From the beginning of 2020 we have added approximately 35 people to the QTC Team
  • 8+ folks stepped up to the challenge of being Foreman
  • Promoted numerous people to new positions within the company
  • Added 12+ vehicles to our fleet throughout the year
  • Added a Traffic Control Department
  • Added an Electrical Department
  • Jumped into the Small Cell Construction and crushed it — supporting Verizon with more crews in more areas than any other Northern CA Verizon GC
  • Locked T-Mobile in as a huge new customer
  • Took on more AT&T projects than we have in any prior years — 5 large New Site Builds started in the end of the 3rd quarter
  • The 1st and 2nd quarter of 2020 (typically our “slower” time of year), we were able to sustain moment with our busiest start compared to any prior year
  • QTC completed  approximately 10% more work in 2020 than we did in 2019
  • Completely grew out of our old location at 3740 Cincinnati, purchased a new property, and remodeled the entire building in less than 2 months

It takes every single one of us to make these types of accomplishments. I am very thankful for the Team that we have and how well we all work together to take care of our customers and to be successful.

New Year – 2021!

This is an extra special year for us. 2021 is the 20 Year Anniversary for QTC!!!

January 20th, 2001 Scott D started Quality Telecom. Thanks to him for starting a company that has allowed us all a chance to grow and be a part of such an amazing team. Scott D is by far the hardest working, most caring, positive, influential, and selfless person I have ever met. He cares more about doing right by others and taking care of his QTC Team than anything else.

I have attached a PDF showing where QTC started 20 years ago at Scott D’s house in Penryn and the different locations we have been since 2001.

We have big things planned this year!

This is going to be the year of Team and Individual Advancement, Company Diversification and Strategic Growth. Allowing everyone the opportunity to stretch themselves and grow with the company.

It will be very important while we all learn and grow into this next phase together that we remember who we are, what we stand for, and why we do what we do…

I hope you know, it is Scott D and my goal to provide the greatest amount of good possible. Our motivation is to provide new growth opportunities to everyone. We strive to do that by serving and supporting everyone on the team in their pursuit to becoming the greatest version of themselves.

Our hope is that by providing this service to our team, we can fulfill our QTC mission to be THE premier construction company — specializing in complex and demanding wireless, commercial and industrial projects, simplifying the construction process, making it easy for all of our clients by staying committed to their success.

QTC values the safety and wellness of everyone, the importance of having a ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to make things simple for our customers, and the provision of a quality product that exceeds any expectations.

What is ahead for 2021?

All of our department and team leaders have put out very exciting and aggressive goals for the upcoming year. This will be our first year of officially making goals like this, and I am very excited to see where it takes us as a company.

Diversify the company into 3 divisions:

  • Wireless Construction Division
  • Commercial Construction Division
  • Steel Division

Crew Development: We have a lot of new faces and we have recognized that it might not be clear to everyone what is needed to move up in the company, what you need to do to make it to the next level, and how you can earn more money 🙂

In January we are introducing a new guide for “tech levels”, making clear which skills are needed to move from one level to the next.

Continued growth in our new departments: Electrical and Traffic Control.

Hire more great people in 2021 than we have in any prior year.

Continued diversification into new areas:

  • Commercial Construction and General Trades: Tenant Improvement and Project Management
  • Private Networks, Public Safety and In-Building Communication: Das, Private LTE, Emergency Response Networks
  • Steel Erection

Add to the QTC benefits we offer: 401K matching will be added by the end of the year

Scott D and I are very committed to each of you and we truly want to make QTC the best place to work. I know we all push hard and it can be a challenging job at times. With that, our goal is to make it a challenge that is also very rewarding.  Make QTC a place that everyone can be proud of.

I truly thank you for all of your hard work and dedication this year. I love you all and I look forward to the upcoming year and many years to come!
